So our family went to Gulf Shores last week with Brett's parents and grandma. We had a great time, not very relaxing though. Guess that is how vacations go with a little one. We figure when our children are all grown up, then we can relax. So only 25 years or so to go, right? =) Also never realized how much JUNK you have to bring for a baby! Pretty sure our whole car was full of his stuff. Surprised we had room for us.
We left Friday night thinking we could drive thru the night...WRONG. We fed Coop, packed the car, and gave him a bottle in his car seat and hit the road. He passed out before we even got out of Mt. Juliet. We made it to about Birmingham before he started crying and crying in the carseat. Luckily, Nana lives in Bham so we spent the night at her house. We got about 3 hours of sleep since booger cried all night. Fun fun. We left Sat morning and it took us about 8 hours to get to Gulf Shores (only supposed to be a 5 hour trip but babies make the rules). As soon as we made it to the condo the boys took a nap, and mommy did too. Not. Haha I unpacked our bags and did all the things that mommy's do that husbands and children think they just magically get done on their own. =) When Coop woke up we walked down to the beach and let him walk into the water, holding our hands of course. That was the only day he did not freak out about sand. He was not a fan of the sand all week. He loved the pool and ocean though. Brett's parents and Nana came down on Sunday, July 3rd, Brett's 26th bday, and we met them for dinner.
The 4th we watched fireworks on the balcony and Coop slept right on through them. We spent the week playing at the pool and in the ocean with our sweet boy and just hanging around. Coop loved to splash in the pool and he would squeal and squeal. He also liked to jump the waves with daddy. Brett's aunt and uncle came down to visit on Tuesday and we had a shrimp boil. Yummy.
We left Gulf Shores on Friday and went over to Pensacola to visit my Yaya and Bop and watch the Blue Angels with my family that had come down that Friday. Coop slept through most of the Blue Angels since he had ear plugs and Brett and I kept them covered with our hands. We stayed at Yaya and Bop's and left Sunday morning to head home. We stopped a few times for an hour or so to let little man have some free time. All in all it was a great first vacation for our little family. Hopefully next year Cooper will like to play in the sand!!
